Schenker and BAX Global become One in Singapore

(Singapore, 1 May 2007) 1st May 2007 marks the completion of legal integration for Schenker and BAX Global in Singapore. The joint organisation shall operate under the name of Schenker Singapore (Pte) Ltd led by Managing Director, Mr. Charlie Kok.

“I am pleased to announce that we have achieved a successful merger of operations. This is a very significant milestone as it marks the start of a new era for the newly combined Schenker organization in Singapore. This would not have been possible without the commitment and dedication of our staff, as well as the strong support from our customers and business partners”, said Charlie Kok.

Schenker Singapore provides customised air, ocean and logistics solutions, and specialised services to industries such as Aerospace, Defense Logistics, Maritime spares, Fairs & Exhibitions, Healthcare, Chemicals, Projects/Oil & Gas, and High-tech.

Charlie Kok added, “Schenker and BAX are two complementary customer-focused organisations that have grown through the years in the Singapore market. Together, our logistics operations cover more than 1.4 million square feet across 13 facilities island-wide.”
In 1998, USD29 million was invested to set up the multi-functional Schenker Logistics Centre, followed by the establishment of the Mega-hub in 2006, which is the biggest freight and logistics facility in the Airport Logistics Park of Singapore (ALPS) located within the Free Trade Zone. These flagship facilities form the basis of a state-of-the-art logistics hub for the Asia-Pacific region.

Testimony to the industry-leading position of the organization in Singapore, Schenker is one of the first logistics service providers to be awarded and accredited with TAPA, C-TPAT, GDP, ISO9001:2000, ISO14001:2004 and OHSAS18001:1999 management systems certifications.

Schenker and BAX Global are in the process of integrating around the world. The joint organisation has a team of about 55,000 experts at 1,500 locations in 150 countries. Together Schenker and BAX are now the No. 1 source for European land transportation, No. 2 for global air freight, No. 3 for global ocean freight, No. 6 for global contract logistics and No. 3 for North American integrated heavy freight. Schenker is a part of DB Logistics, the Transportation and Logistics Division of Deutsche Bahn AG.
