Schenker Canada brings First Vectrix Electric Motorcycle to North America

Bringing you from zero to 100km with zero emissions!

News Item Entered: Tuesday, July 24, 2007

(Mississauga, Ontario, 25 July 2007) Schenker of Canada Limited today announced that it has been selected to help the Vectrix Corporation commercialize and distribute its two-wheeled, zero emission vehicle (ZEV) platform. The vehicles are designed to provide clean, efficient, reliable and affordable inner-city transportation.

Schenker Canada was instrumental in the recent delivery of the first shipments of the Vectrix electric motorcycle into North America. Three motorcycles were shipped to Vancouver for a presentation to the Honourable James Flaherty, Minister of Finance for Canada and Premier of British Columbia, Gordon Campbell.

“The issue of alternative fuels and environmentally friendly engines is in the spot light across the automotive and motorcycle industry,” said Frederik Beelaerts, Director of SCM Global Automotive Logistics, at Schenker of Canada Limited. “Vectrix has a solution for reducing green house gas emissions for inner-city transportation and Schenker is helping them succeed through global distribution.”

“Our relationship began in Poland and, based on our strong history together, Schenker has been selected to be the global logistics partner of choice for Vectrix,” adds Lolita Chakravarti, Automotive Solutions Engineer, North America, at Schenker of Canada Limited.

Vectrix is breaking new ground by bringing to market its Vectrix electric motorcycle. This zero-emission, high-powered scooter is set to launch later this year in North America and Europe, followed by Taiwan and Southeast Asia. It has a top speed of 100 km/hr; a range of 110 km on a single charge; accelerates 80 km in 6.8 seconds; and is fully charged in only 2 hours.

“The Schenker team in Vancouver did a great job for us,” adds Scott Williams, Managing Director of Sales of the Americas, at Vectrix Corporation. “They were able to process the rush shipment over a weekend, and assist in the un-crating and front wheel assembly of the bikes. The customs clearance to move the bikes across the border in a rush would not have been possible without the assistance of the Schenker Customs group to ensure the proper documents were in place.”

Schenker is helping Vectix grow its business in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, as well as other locations such as the U.K., Ireland, Spain, Switzerland, Austria and Italy.
