Item Entered: Tuesday, March 23, 2004

In the presence of numerous leading figures from the worlds of sport, business and politics, Dr. Jacques Rogge, President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and Dr. Thomas Held, CEO of Schenker AG, signed an agreement on the long-term strategic partnership of the Olympic movement and Schenker on Friday, June 13, 2003 at the headquarters of Deutsche Bahn in Berlin.

The agreement positions Schenker as Official Supplier to the IOC for freight forwarding and customs clearance services for the Olympic Games. Schenker will work with the IOC and the Organising Committees for the Olympic Games in Athens 2004 (ATHOC), Turin 2006 (TOROC) and Beijing 2008 (BOCOG). The company will also assign a specialised team to focus on Olympic activities, including, in addition to the Games, providing services for all major IOC meetings and sessions.

At the contract signing ceremony in Berlin, IOC President Jacques Rogge commented: "The organisation of the Olympic Games is an enormous challenge so the IOC is delighted to have signed this long term agreement with Schenker, who will now be in charge of freight forwarding and customs clearance. It was a pleasure to come to Berlin for the formal signing of this agreement."

Schenker AG CEO, Dr. Thomas Held further elaborated: "The long-term suppliership agreement with the IOC signed today is a landmark in the long and wide-ranging history of Schenker, and it is something of which we are extremely proud. It represents a huge challenge and places us under an obligation to turn in our very best performance for what are almost certainly the world's premier sporting events. In the final analysis, the success of sporting occasions is inseparable from the quality of provided services."

"For the first time, this agreement creates a long-term and highly promising foundation for close cooperation with the IOC and underlines the quality of services provided by Schenker," said Dr. Hartmut Mehdorn, CEO of Deutsche Bahn AG and host to the signing ceremony.

The Stinnes subsidiary Schenker, a company with annual sales of 6.4 billion euros, 36,000 employees and approximately 1,100 offices around the world, already has close ties to the Olympic movement. Schenker has cooperated with Organising Committees of Olympic Games and a number of National Olympic Committees at events like the 2000 Summer Games in Sydney and the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City. The company has also provided services to the IOC for the past four years. Stinnes is a Deutsche Bahn AG company.
