New rail terminal goes into operation in Arad, Romania
Schenker center to open up an interesting economic region
News Item Entered: Tuesday, June 12, 2007
(Essen/Bucharest, 12 June 2007) Schenker has just started to operate a new rail terminal in Arad, Romania. It is situated close by the Schenker terminals that exist already in Bucharest and Cluj. The center has direct siding facilities, and opens up an interesting economic region.
The new site includes a warehouse measuring 1,000 square meters, with a ramp for direct transshipment, as an interface between rail and road. Deutsche Bahn subsidiary Schenker offers customers who want to import or export goods a wide range of services, including warehousing, processing, cross-docking, packing and unpacking, as well as comprehensive transport documentation and the handling of customs formalities.
The Europe-wide extension of the road toll, which has now reached Romania, is just one argument in favor of considering rail in logistics strategies. Additionally, competitive rates and transit times, and higher security standards thanks to fewer stops and reduced waiting times, are making rail freight transport to and from Romania more and more attractive.
