Integrated capacities for airfreight from Europe to the United States and Canada and vice versa Complete service for industry and commerce from door to door in one hand
(Essen, 05/17/2006) With regular direct flight operations between the airfreight hubs in Hahn, Germany and Toledo, Ohio in the USA Schenker is now providing additional capacities for airfreight from Europe to the United States and Canada and vice versa.
“As a first result of our integration with BAX Global, we can now offer the complete service from door to door in one hand,” says Dr. Thomas Lieb, Member of the Management Board of Schenker AG and in charge of global air and seafreight. “Our new scheduled services between Germany and the BAX hub in Toledo, Ohio mean more planning reliability for import and exports. On both sides the cargo will be handled through our domestic networks. All customers of Schenker and BAX Global will benefit from our presence in Europe, from our joint expertise in global airfreight, and our strength in North America.”
The new direct flight operations will reduce interfaces during the complete supply chain and provides at the same time for high quality standards, especially for critical and time sensitive shipments. The service will start in early June. “The new flight will add to the integrated services we already offer to our customers on a global basis,” explains Thomas Mack, Vice President Airfreight, Schenker AG: “It is part of our global network that we will continue to develop. Our next focus will be the development of a similar product on the Trans Pacific trade lane.”
Schenker has long been offering successfull weekly flight operations between Europe and Asia-Pacific and the well known “Southern Connex” providing services between Europe and the USA. Together with BAX Global, Schenker is No. 2 in global airfreight and No. 3 in integrated heavy freight in the USA.
With annual sales of 8.9 billion euros, 42,000 employees and about 1,100 offices around the world, Schenker is one of the world's leading providers of integrated logistics services, offering land operations, air and sea freight as well as comprehensive logistics solutions and global supply chain management from a single source.
