Inauguration of Schenker in Philippines

(Makati, 08.02.2007) - Schenker Philippines announces the completion of the merger between BAX Global, CPI Transport, and StarTrans International, as of January 1st 2007. The new Schenker Philippines has over 500 employees in nine locations throughout the country.

An inauguration event held on 8th February 2007, marked this unique milestone of Schenker in Asia Pacific, as three organisations merged and integrated together to form Schenker’s own entity in the Philippines. The event was attended by Senate President Manuel B. Villar Jr, German Ambassador to the Philippines - Dr. Axel Weishaupt, Member of the Board of Management Schenker AG - Dr. Thomas Lieb, CEO of Schenker Asia Pacific – Mr. Karl-Heinz Matthes, President of BAX Global Asia Pacific – Mr. Steve Dearnley, and Founder & Chairman of CPI Transport - Mr. Patrick Chen, among many other dignitaries, customers, and guests.

Schenker and BAX Global are a part of DB Logistics, the Transportation and Logistics Division of Deutsche Bahn AG. Schenker, BAX Global, CPI and StarTrans have joined forces to become one of the industry's leading logistics providers in Philippines. BAX and CPI each have been active in the Philippines market for over ten years and almost 20 years respectively, with an established portfolio of customers across industries, such as high-tech, automotive, retail, consumer, telecom and chemicals.

The services provided by new Schenker Philippines include air and sea freight, land transportation, integrated logistics and supply chain management, customs clearances, IT solutions, projects, fairs & events and household removals. Schenker Philippines Inc. will be led by Managing Director Mr. Reiner Allgeier.
