(Toronto, Ontario, November 3, 2011) Schenker of Canada Limited has been named a 2010-2011 Gold Medal IPM Partner Award winner by Orkin, Inc., The IPM Institute of North America, and NSF Cook & Thurber for its outstanding commitment to Integrated Pest Management (IPM) partnerships. The award was given in recognition of the company’s top-notch IPM standard at its Mars Canada facility in Bolton, Ontario.
IPM, an environmentally friendly pest management approach, emphasizes multiple methods of non-chemical pest control and prevention. DB Schenker employs Orkin’s Gold Medal Protection, a comprehensive IPM service that focuses on vigilant sanitation, prompt adherence to structural pest management recommendations, diligent record-keeping and staff participation in IPM training sessions.
“As part of the MARS Canada Supply Chain team, I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge our 3rd party service provider Schenker of Canada Limited and Orkin PCO Services for being awarded the 2010-2011 North American Gold Medal IPM Award,” said Karl Kretschmer, CA Supply Chain Project Manager, MARS Canada Inc. “This win exemplifies MARS Canada’s commitment to our Quality Principle."
“In the food processing industry, quality is the most important result of day-to-day facility management in which pest control plays an integral role,” said Bill Melville, Quality Assurance Director for Orkin PCO Services. “The Gold Medal IPM Partner Awards recognize Orkin customers that have gone the extra mile to achieve their pest management goals. We are pleased to recognize Schenker of Canada Limited with this award for demonstrating true dedication to our pest management partnership.”
The Gold Medal IPM Partner Awards began in 2003 as an effort by Orkin and The IPM Institute of North America to encourage the use of IPM and other environmentally friendly pest management practices. In 2007, NSF Cook & Thurber joined the awards as a co-presenter, bringing its food safety auditing expertise to the program.
