In Montreal the ground is frozen stiff and covered with ice and snow, but Schenker is hard at work. Our people are working in partnership with Toronto colleagues to prepare for the upcoming Olympic Torch Relay. The logistical complexities of this exciting event are a perfect opportunity for us to showcase our skills.
Consider the challenges: The Athens 2004 World Olympic Torch Relay will span five continents and 31 cities, all those that hosted the summer Olympics. Montreal is proud to participate, and on June 20th, two 747 airplanes will be arriving five minutes apart at the Montreal International Airport. Inside will be the mythical Olympic torches, ten BMW motorcycles, 180 VIP's and journalists and all the necessary equipment. If you think that's a logistics challenge, consider that the Olympic flame must be lit at all times (yes, even on the plane)!

Our team will draw on their collaborative skills as they work with numerous organizations. Security and documentation must all be in place. Schenker staff will work very closely with the Canada Border Services Agency, the airport Security Agency and the Airport ground operations staff to perform rapid uploading of the aircrafts and quick turn around at the end of the day. All our expertise will be in demand. Schenker will provide diplomatic custom clearance, on-site consulting services, local transportation of equipment, staff and export clearance. The Schenker team - led by Karl Seyffer in Montreal and Peter Elek in Toronto will ensure all runs smoothly. The result of all this hard work? The Olympic torch will arrive in Brussels, Belgium the following day. That's what Delivering Customer Orders Perfectly is all about!
